Although it was the fifth home they had built, the Zumbiels knew their 6500 square feet log home, complete with pond and private park, tucked away in the woods would be quite an undertaking. When the Adams decided to retire and move to from Michigan to Kentucky, they purchased land in the Daniel Boone National Forest, near Somerset. They had no idea who to contact to build their home and knew nothing about the area or anyone in Somerset. They would still be in Michigan during the majority of the construction and were concerned about being so far away. After Jim Barna Log Homes recommended Bowling Construction, they checked the website, liked what they saw, and called Randall. They happily reported that "after our conversation, he had many insights into just what we wanted, from the perfect home site to complete inside details. He is so easy to work with. He grabbed hold of our dream and made it happen !"
The Adams were still living in Michigan when the construction began, and were only able to visit the building site a couple of times the first three months. However, they were reassured by the communication from Randall. "…he called us almost daily to let us know what was happening, ask questions and make sure we were all on the right track. That was important to us. He made us feel like we were right there, even though we were 500 miles away."
After selling their home in Michigan the Adams bought a Motor home and moved to the building site. They enjoyed watching their house take shape under the capable hands of Randall and his crew. "We were so impressed with Randall and the construction crews . All of them were very dependable, hard working, very nice and polite. I especially liked the way the crews worked with Randall, depending on his instructions and making sure all was going correctly. They all took a very personal interest in exactly how we wanted our home built."

Surprisingly smooth process
After traveling the world, the Gwinn family began planning their retirement home. They studied log homes for 10 years, and when Jim Barna Homes recommended Bowling Construction, they finally got to work.
